As Omega III obited above the atmosphere of Earth John Smith sat at his control panel, watching the ever changing screen. He watched the monitor with a dull look on his face and a cup of coffee in his right hand while he tapped away at the keyboard with his left. He finished pushing keys and took a sip of his coffee and was unpleasantly surprised to find it was burning hot. He withdrew his mouth from the brim of the cup almost immediately and sighed as he glanced back up at the monitor. Nothing exciting ever happens around here. He thought to himself as his gaze drifted around the small metallic room that was his "office".
When he had chosen this career path he had thought it was going to be thrills and excitment from the beginning but, much to his dismay, it was not. All he ever did was push buttons and examine his 42 inch LCD monitor. John tilted his head back and looked up at the ceiling. Suddenly a loud alarm started to ring and his station was illumiated in an omnious red glow. He focused all his attention on the screen. Omega III was falling out of orbit. He started to furiously go through sequences of commands but Omega III wouldn't respond. Oh crap. What the hell could've caused this? He finally exhausted all of the standard commands and started to run through some of the improvisations he had come up with in his spare time.
John hit the enter key as his last command was typed out and fortunately the satellite activated its emergency thrusters and repositioned itself on the assigned orbit. John sighed in relief and accessed the on-board camera of Omega III. He scrolled to the expanses of its vision but only saw the vast, black expanse of space and the blue and green of the Earths surface along with the white of its clouds. Out of nowhere a large metallic craft covered the vision of the tiny camera on the small television satellite. It passed and the camera swivelled to reveal rows upon rows of the crafts. One hit the satellite and the camera was destroyed. John collapsed onto the floor.
