Writing Prompt - Kio - 2-12-08
"Looking at the world today as you know it, how would you describe it in the eyes of a child?"
(I'm technically a child...so this is from my point of view
)
The world today is miraculous and monstrous place that envelopes and frees people on a daily basis. Some people would call it life but others would call it a curse. The rights and responsibilities that are thrust down to use from our parents and ancestors are thrust aside in the bustle of daily lives. We carelessly pollute and poison the land, me included, without realising it until eventually we get to a stage where we are oblivious to the suffering of this floating hunk of rock we call a home. But we are so deep in our ways that we cant reverse our lifestyle, some people believe we cant live without technology and I think they are right but what I aim to do as I develop in years is research a new method of energy, harnessing an element or natural resource that, at the very least, lessens the plight we have unleased.
Although we dont like to admit it, we are on this planet for life and we are destroying it bit by bit. Another note is (I hat eto go into this) Global Warming. If you think of all the furry little critters that inhabit that desolate yet entrancing wasteland that encompasses the tips (for want of a better term) of our spherical planet. We are taking away the animals activities, I mean whats a penguin supposed to do without its slippery slopes? Well it could waddle around on grassland for a couple of years then kick the bucket but whats the fun in that? Whats a polar bear without holes in the ice for catching stupid seals? Sure the polar bear could randomly shove its paw into the water and hope he gets something but its just not the same.
My opinion on the world today is that it is a drastically damaged yet retrievable world that can, not only, raise life but could go on to become a colony that could spread throughout the universe to provide us better tv reception, better internet connections and, more importantly, a way to talk to plutonians.

LOL
The ending was marvelous Kio.
You're right though. We are messing up. It's nice to know that the youth of the world are trying to right all of the worlds wrongs though. It's about time people started noticing the damage they're causing.
