Of worms and grime and happenstance

Warping, and draining, like wet, crumpled paper

And hope, not pray, for life like new-agers

To silence their lies of blind ambition

And write down their mottos of fame and contrition

In notebooks with spirals in words and in metal

Not making much sense, letting dust settle

Going on to be kings, titans of myths

In Italian suits, holding credit card slips

the shudders slam shut

the worms take their refuge

in layers of mud.

And the muck

it is warming

so near to the heart

where ancient lost hot springs

are bubbling up.

In the morning we set out

no waking, just we,

lost in the downpour

of old memories.

In the evening of waking

the birds are alive

singing sweet softly

their voices arise.

And the night

no farther than here

clinging quite close to the

and tantamount to my recourse

nothing of note or merit.

In depressive states of misery

that changes all the notes.

Did she wonder if he’d left her?

Had his heart been led astray?

How did she rejoice?

When he held her in his arms

Did she know she was in love?

And what about that other boy?

Surely she didn’t hate him so

Just because he was Paris

And she loved Romeo

Maybe he really cared

Perhaps they once were close

Maybe he broke her heart

And Romeo was just a morphine dose

wide and deep without mar.

Sudden siphon, forced-narrow;

calm and serene, peace again.

I keep getting this feeling.

It's like a kick in the stomach.

And each time I get it it comes with memories

Memories of him.

In one he sits in a chair in my kitchen,

another he smiles at me from my couch,

I open my fridge and flash!

The beer is still sitting there from that one night,

The night he seemed unable to get enough,

and then the morning after,

when a cold stony silence greeted me,

crushing my happy thoughts,

causing me to doubt myself.

A day passed, it's friday.

Tomorrow. ...

She seeks her watery grave,

drowning gasps, grasps tendrils

of floating crowfoot weed

moved by each passing wave.

Pale gossamer skirts bloom

Like underwater lilies

in clouds of grandeur,

shroud of elegance for her tomb.

Eyelashes flutter, as cold hands

wave with the swelling water,

her limp body settles and seeks

the gentle caress of warm dark sand.

The feeling ebbs out her finger tips;

No heart-beat in her peaceful breast,

Yet her brain in crescendo panic screams,

But ...

No longer happy,

Unable to have fun.

No more warm days,

Under the sun.

No longer alive,

Always alone.

Feeling the pain,

Right through to the bone.

I gave you my all,

Gave you my soul.

But you still left me,

And now in my heart there's a hole.

I gave you my heart,

But you didn't care.

An unbearable pain,

I guess life's not fair.

Angry at the world,

But I'm the one to blame.

I drew myself to you,

Like a moth to the flame.

Holding back tears,

Trying ...

I don't know what to do

I was about to tell you my

Deepest and darkest secret

I....I've cut myself

never hard enough to leave a scar

that way no one would know

but just as I'm going to tell you

you tell me,

that if I ever hurt myself

you would stop loving me.

Frozen with fear

I tell you that I would never

because its stupid.

Later on I just start to cry

so of course you ask me why

the guilt has gotten to me and i break down

and i tell you everything

but before ...

See the winter sneak up on the trees

Faded colors and the dying leaves

Feel the cold wind underneath your sleeves

There's no comfort here

Turning restlessly throughout the night

Watching TV for the soothing light

Seeking shelter under sheets pulled tight

There's no comfort here

Walking aimlessly through city streets

Past the bankers and their silly greed

Never looking past your own two feet

There's no comfort here

Close your eyes before the sun goes down

Hide behind the colors ...

A POEM ABOUT BARACK OBAMA

BARACK OBAMA

Out from the dark and stormy night

he came beautifully black faced,

arms stretched out to give,

feet planted to stay.

At the part of his lips,

at the lift of his tongue,

on the exhale of his breath

Inspired ears now hung.

A sadness, a silence

began to disappear

In the mist of every hush

lived massive courageous cheers.

Just as had been promised

On the death bed of slaves,

The tears on our face

Now nourishing their graves.

He who had been foolish enough
